Hello fellow science fiction and fantasy fanatics!
My name is Jenna and as I am sure you have figured out, this is my blog.
I have been an avid reader since I was a young girl, growing up in the Midwestern United States where I used books to escape from my isolation on a family farm. My first exposure to fantasy was beloved fairy tales as a child, then a friend gave me a copy of The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and I was hooked. My father, a big fan of classic science fiction, passed on to me his love of reading and his collection of books by authors like Ray Bradbury and Edgar Rice Burroughs. I went on to receive a degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois, where I continued to devour everything from Tolkien to Neil Gaiman to J.K. Rowling.
Always on the lookout for new adventures, I have visited 12 countries on 3 continents, spending two and a half years in Ireland before returning to the United States to hike the Appalachian Trail. I have worked as an office assistant, a project worker in a homeless shelter, a full-time live-in caregiver for the intellectually disabled, a janitor, and a library circulation desk clerk.
All the while, I have continued to hunt down good (and bad) works of science fiction and fantasy. I’ve done some copywriting, written up notes and timestamps for podcasts, and written numerous reviews for OnlineBookClub.org. Currently, I am happy to be doing what I love, reading quality work and sharing the best and the worst with those who love it as much as I do.
